Connections

Two new arrivals in the space of a week.

We are all very excited with the news about James' baby daughter being born last week.  We send our warmest congratulations to the whole family.

And when James comes back to the office, he will discover that the new photocopier/finisher has been installed.

It arrived yesterday morning but it's fair to say the delivery process was a little bumpy.  And the problem lay with getting it connected.  The engineer, a very patient man, spent hours (and I do mean hours) getting the new machine to speak to our laptops.  Many different configurations were attempted, with the wonderful support of our IT department at '121' and eventually all the equipment began speaking to each other successfully.

Making connections is not always an easy process.  And yet, right now, in our Presbytery, many of us are busy making connections.  Whether it attempting to connect with communities, or to make connections in a parish grouping or to make connections through a union or to make connections with a new minister or a new congregation.

Jesus was incredibly good at making connections.  Even the briefest of encounters revealed a deep care for the other person or group of people.  He made no assumptions.  He was both curious and compassionate.  And he never imposed himself, although he did once invite himself around for tea.

One of the ways in which we try and help the Presbytery to be better connected is through the Year Book.  It is essential for committee work and for the work of the office.  Considerable effort has gone into it recently to get it up to date.  However, we need your help to keep it that way.  The latest edition will be published in time for the next Presbytery meeting.  When it's circulated please double check it and help us make any necessary changes to it.  Equally, if you know that we're waiting for information from you e.g. commissioned elder or a data consent form, please get in touch with the office.  Your help is much appreciated!

Another way to get connected is to attend one of the many services of induction or adjustment happening across NENI.  We meet on Thursday evening at 6.45pm at Portlethen Church for the induction of Rev Tose Shayamunda.  It would be lovely to see you there.
