Resurrection Life

'Why do you look for the living among the dead?'  Luke 24:5

It's a stark question for the women, as they come to anoint the body of their beloved Lord.  And a wonderful proclamation.  Jesus is not dead.  You will no longer find him in the tomb.  He is alive.  God has raised him by the power of the Holy Spirit.  Death could not hold him.  As John tells us right at the very beginning, the light shines in the darkness and the darkness cannot put it out.

Life, in all its fullness, flows out of Easter Sunday and we are invited to join in.  As Paul writes in his letter to the church in Ephesus, we were dead in our sins but by grace God makes us alive with Christ.

It raises the question for me - where am I seeing and experiencing the fullness of life which Jesus' death secures for me?  Am I busy looking in the wrong place for where God is at work?

Psalm 27 pronounces, "I remain confident of this.  I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living."  As we journey through Eastertide, may our confidence match that of the Psalmist, and may our eyes be opened, like the disciples on the road to Emmaus, to see our living Lord in our midst.

TEAM CHANGES

As many of you will know, James, our Administration Officer, James, will be on leave from the beginning of next week.  We wish him all the very best for his shared parental leave and look forward to seeing him back with us in September.

I am delighted to say that Mrs Patricia Purves will be providing temporary cover for the Presbytery Office.  Her induction is on Tuesday 29th April and she will be joining us at the Presbytery meeting.  The regular pattern (which will start on Wednesday 30th April) is that Patricia will be covering the office on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings.  We will send out more details next week.  I would ask for your patience as Patricia settles in and we develop a new way of working in the office.
