Heroes

Christmas is a perfect time of year to say thank you to those who have served in our churches, in our schools, in our communities, in our children's and youth activities, over the last year.  We have a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge the difference they have made and how much we appreciate their efforts.  It is a great time to highlight those who work behind the scenes - who see what needs to be done, and who get on and do it.

I am conscious that there are many people across our Presbytery who fall into that category.  From Elders to Readers, from MDS to Deacons, from Ministers (FTMWS, OLM, Auxiliary, Retired) to Chaplains (Healthcare, HM Forces), from our staff team to those in training, from our corresponding members to all our Convenors, from our Guild contacts to our Moderator.

On behalf of the Presbytery, I would like to say thank you.  Thank you for all that you have done this year which has helped us live into our values and to come together as a Presbytery.  Thank you for bearing with us when things have been challenging.  And thank you for engaging with the various themes and topics we've explored this year.

I can't send everyone a chocolate - so the photo will have to do!

Of course, our deepest gratitude at this time of year (or, indeed, at any time of year), must be reserved for the God who is always at work behind the scenes and who gifted us the truest of heroes - "She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” [Matthew 1:21]

As you take time to show your appreciation to others over the coming days - don't forget to take some time to give thanks to God for the wonders of his love.

On Friday we'll be sending out details of the Presbytery office's opening hours over Christmas.  In the meantime, all the very best for everything that is on the list for rest of this week!
